James is a Senior Accounting Manager who has lived in Hampton Roads since 1986. An Ohio native, he’s been married to Anneke for 30 years and the couple has two grown children, Mirjam and Daniel. James’ hobbies include photography, bird watching, hiking and travel.
Jim Hartle has more years of accounting experience than almost everyone else at our firm except Nick. Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting prior to being drafted during the Vietnam War. He returned to the profession once he completed his term of service in the Navy. Jim worked in the accounting department of Hobart Corporation in Ohio as he courted, then married his wife, Anneke. They moved their family to Hampton Roads in 1986, and Jim worked as an accountant at several local firms while he attended Regent University to earn his master’s degree.
Jim began working with Nick in 1995 when the business first began. He has since added a CPA designation and certification as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor to his professional qualifications.
A conscientious, dedicated professional, Jim has been responsible on a monthly basis for all aspects of the monthly accounting and financial statement compilations for 20-25 small to medium businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Jim now has over 13 years experience in a CPA environment. He has acted on behalf of our clients as liaison with the IRS, the Virginia Employment Commission, the Virginia Department of Taxation, and various other state taxation agencies around the United States for our out-of-state clients. Jim has extensive knowledge of payroll preparation and special issues related to payroll. He has also accumulated 14 years experience in personal, corporate, partnership and not-for-profit tax returns.
In the fall of 2007 Jim was promoted to Accounting Manager; he is now responsible for assigning and reviewing all monthly compilation work processed by the accounting staff of our firm.
